Welcome to a refreshed Ernie the Echidna

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MELBOURNE, Australia – July 20, 2021: The Libertarian Party welcomes a refreshed Ernest “Ernie” the Echidna.
Continuing a legacy of anti-state, anti-war, and pro-market ideals, on November 5, 2020, the Libertarian Party re-birthed Australia’s oldest libertarian party, the Workers Party, and their 1975 platform.
The Libertarian Party also introduced Australia’s cutest and most principled mascot, Ernest "Ernie" the Echidna. Over the 2020-2021 summer, Ernie has undergone a refresh.
Ernie was originally hand-drawn on top of different open-source art fragments. After the Party’s launch, a few supporters expressed a desire to see a more polished mascot and kindly contributed funding for a professional redesign. We’d like to thank these donors for investing their resources and for helping to build a formidable new presence in the Australian political landscape.
Later this year, the Libertarian Party will be releasing a prospectus including details of the Party’s structure, short-term and long-term goals, our education strategies, and how you can get involved. We can’t wait to make libertarian activism an enjoyable pursuit.
The following quotations have been attributed to Ernest "Ernie" the Echidna: ● “Taxation is theft”, ● “Abolish the Reserve Bank of Australia”, ● “Bring all troops back home”, ● “End the censorship and spying of the Orwellian state”, ● “Free Julian Assange”, ● “Repudiate the national debt”, and ● “End all prohibition, embrace self-ownership”.
Isn’t Ernie a cutie?
